Follow on Google News | New leaders elected for Toastmasters International members in southern OntarioBy: District 86 Toastmasters International Nancy Movrin from Cambridge, Anne Dockeray from Waterloo, and Bhushan Rele from Mississauga were chosen to lead more than 2,000 members in 119 clubs in District 86. All three are recipients of the Distinguished Toastmaster Award, the highest recognition from the international organization. And all three want to share their experience building leadership and communication skills in Toastmasters. "Members learn leadership skills by organizing and conducting meetings and sharpen presentation skills by completing education projects," said Movrin, District 86 Director and a 19-year member of Cambridge Toastmasters in Cambridge. She's a recreation coordinator at the City of Cambridge and often finds herself in front of a microphone at public events. Toastmasters helped her become a better presenter and speaker. It's also where she met her spouse. "Toastmasters has something for each of us," says Dockeray, Program Quality Director. "The aspect that makes me feel I am doing good for me and others is mentorship. Through Toastmasters, I have guided many members who want to learn more about themselves. I love to help others strive to see their potential." Dockeray joined Toastmasters in 2013 and is a member of four clubs: Nissan Canada and Maple Leaf in the Toronto area, Conestoga College in Kitchener, and TopDrawer advanced club in Cambridge. She is a master data analyst by profession and resides in Waterloo. Rele's role as Club Growth Director includes helping all members thrive by encouraging fun and exciting meetings and events. "I have developed a strong network in my local community and globally," the Mississauga resident says. "I know whom to reach out to when I have a question or need assistance. I enjoy being a part of the very supportive Toastmasters community." Rele joined Toastmasters 15 years ago. He works in IT Project Management and consulting and is a member of MiSpeak Toastmasters in Mississauga.
