St. Johns Cultural Council Selects 17 Local Artists for Exhibition, September 5 - November 30

St. Johns Cultural Council will commemorate textile arts this fall with workshops and theatrical performances at The Waterworks and an Art in Public Spaces exhibition at the St. Johns County Administration Building.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Aug. 8, 2023 - PRLog -- The St. Johns Cultural Council will commemorate textile arts this fall with workshops and theatrical performances at The Waterworks and an Art in Public Spaces exhibition at the St. Johns County Administration Building.

Events will feature two performances of Thread and Bone, a heartfelt and humorous solo show by Lisa Egan Woods, a Kentucky-based theatre artist and heart-surgery survivor, who presents an intimate patchwork of love, grief, and healing through dressmaking.  Performances will be held at The Waterworks, 184 San Marco Avenue in St. Augustine, Florida on Saturday, September 2 at 7 pm and Sunday, September 3 at 2 pm.  Tickets are available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/thread-and-bone-tickets-681802077367.

Threading the Margins, an Art in Public Spaces exhibition, will be on display from Tuesday, September 5 until Thursday, November 30 at the St. Johns County Administration Building, Rotunda Gallery, 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine.  Seventeen local artists were selected following an open call to participate in the exhibition which also includes antique garments and samplers from the collections of the Peña-Peck House and Ximenez-Fatio House museums.

Participating artists include Kathryn Arango, Sherry Buckingham Peck, Susan Cockerham, Gretchen Crawford, Amy Hemphill Dove, Deborah Hossbach, Jenny Keyser, Courtney Krug,  An Marshall, Melissa May, Laura Mongiovi, Elizabeth Odiorne, Linda Schultz, Juanelle Strickland Marshall, Diane Thompson Cortese, Laura Towne, and Cindy Wilson.  An artist reception will be held at 8:30 am on September 5. A formal opening will be held on Wednesday, September 6 from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm with comments at 6:00 pm. The events are free and open to the public.
