National Pink Day June 23rd with the Women's Breast & Heart Initiative

MIAMI - June 22, 2023 - PRLog -- The Women's Breast & Heart Initiative (WBHI)— a leader in disease prevention & early detection grassroots outreach—inspires the community on National Pink Day, June 23^rd to "Let's Glow" Pink for Summer Breast Cancer Awareness reminding all women to Get Your Mammogram.

The multi-faceted grassroots and virtual effort was created nine years ago by the organization because breast cancer unfortunately can strike at any time, not just October. With pink being the symbolic color for breast cancer, National Pink Day serves as the right moment to inspire self-care for women during summer by encouraging timely breast and heart screenings.

WBHI's 9^th Annual Summer Breast Cancer Awareness campaign provides women with critical resources to help beat the odds of breast cancer. Through its community partnerships, WBHI offers mammograms for early detection, health education, care coordination and patient navigation year-round and on June 23^rd under the umbrella theme, #WBHIPinkDay, engaging with the South Florida community and national audiences.

Bringing critical preventative care services to the community, WBHI partners with Fresco y Más in Hialeah on National Pink Day, June 23^rd offering mammogram screenings at no cost and by appointment only. Women can contact WBHI to schedule their mammogram at 305-825-4081.

Valued partner Jackson Health System will also be providing heart screenings, presenting a more comprehensive preventive care approach, with collaborating partner Quest Diagnostics supporting the effort with a continuum of screening services. Macy's adds some glamour to the day with a raffle for a fragrance basket, while supporting good health for all women. Everyone who participates in the mammogram and heart screening receives a life-saving disease prevention and early detection education package.

"We commemorate National Pink Day on June 23^rd because focusing on breast cancer awareness only during October is simply not enough," shares Andrea Ivory, WBHI's founder and executive director. "Through disease prevention and early detection, we can help transform and save lives. We encourage our community to come together for our Summer Breast Cancer Awareness campaign and inspire one another to live disease deterrent lifestyles for both breast cancer and heart disease.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer over their lifetime; and the death rate has increased. Delayed, or missed cancer screenings could mean diagnosis at a later stage with a poorer prognosis. WBHI also presents risk reduction strategies for heart disease which is the leading cause of death for women.

The #WBHIPinkDay campaign includes in-store activities throughout Misha's Cupcakes locations with specially designed fundraising cupcakes, and participating Starbucks offering breast cancer educational 'pink packs' with free coffee during select times. Committed partnership with COX Media Group and Clear Channel Outdoor amplify summer breast cancer awareness messaging. Additionally, Miami Dade College Freedom Tower lights up pink at sunset for community awareness and remembrance.
