Hive Students Hub Takes Education to the Blockchain in Ghana

TAMALE, Ghana - May 16, 2023 - PRLog -- Students in Ghana have a brighter future thanks to an initiative called Hive Students Hub, whose mission is to promote education through the Hive blockchain.

Hive Students Hub launched on Monday, April 25, spearheaded by a team of Hive users. Since then, the Hub has distributed 400 Hive-branded notebooks to students in Ghana with several more hundred scheduled for distribution soon. The group also distributes pens. The promotional items are given away to encourage students to join Hive, a decentralized social media platform where users can earn cryptocurrency for their contributions.

"We want the students to be curious," said Abdul Wahav. "We also wish to empower them because they are challenged to find these items locally."

The first set of notebooks and pens were distributed in Kumasi and Tamale and funded by Hive Ghana, a Hive community that promotes Hive throughout the country. Hive blockchain has picked up funding for future efforts of Hive Students Hub, which will expand to include distribution of polo shirts and wrist bands. Hive Students Hub also plans to conduct seminars and educational experiences throughout Ghana.

"When we visit colleges," Wahav said, "we simply distribute information, but when we talk to high school students, we go one step further. We want them to end up learning through Hive, so we give them an opportunity to own a Hive account. We educate them about Hive so that they'll know there is a social media platform helping them to better themselves."

In the future, Hive Students Hub (https://hive.blog/@hivestudentshub) hopes to build a Hive community where students in Ghana can post schoolwork, receive grades, and use the tools of the blockchain to get an education. Early efforts show they are making progress toward that goal in great strides.
