Which Artificial Intelligence is Superior at Stock Selection?

If the hype is to be believed, AI chatbots can compose a poem, complete your schoolwork, create litigation, and maybe even steal your job. Can they also manage your investments?
NEWARK, Del. - April 25, 2023 - PRLog -- While the use of artificial intelligence in financial advising is not new—"robo-advisors" have been available for years, some of which employ AI—chatbot technology is fast becoming more accessible to ordinary investors.

Google's Bard and Microsoft's chatbot, powered by ChatGPT and linked into its Bing search engine, can engage in remarkably human-like exchanges with consumers.

We challenged Microsoft and Google's respective programs to choose two stocks—one growth stock and one value stock—and see how they performed over a three-week period compared to one another and a human. Because we utilized the Investopedia stock market simulator, no real money was exchanged.

Both products contain disclaimers, as do we, as neither was designed primarily to offer financial advice. Investopedia does not endorse artificial intelligence as an investment instrument or the securities chosen by machines.

We began by asking each bot the identical question: If you had to choose between a value and a growth stock to own, which would deliver the biggest return?
