GREENVILLE, S.C. - Feb. 14, 2023 - PRLog -- Founder of White Girl Advocacy and poet, Melissa Whiteford St. Clair announces the release of her second book of poetry, "Heart Work A Heart-Centered Collection of Poems on Valentine's Day, Tuesday, February 14, 2022. The February release also celebrates Black History month and the poet's literary activism around social justice.

Sharing her journey on the matter of race with readers in "Heart Work A Heart-Centered Collection of Poems," Melissa Whiteford St. Clair uses poetry as a mechanism to
process reflections and responses to her study of racism and social justice in American history and today's society.

Additional inspiration for the poetry came from participation in a JustFaith Ministries workshop Faith and Racial Equity along with independent study.

A section of lighthearted poems written while on vacation rounds out this collection.

"This book is a compilation of poems written as a result of lessons and homework assignments while a participant in the course, On The Matter of Race: White People Committed to Continuing the Journey Together, Levels 2-4 led by Dr. Lynne Maureen Hurdle," stated St. Clair. She continued, "By the grace of God, I found poetry as a processing mechanism for my journey on the matter of race." "I am excited to share work on the additional subject matter in this edition." Below is an introductory poem.

Vantage Point

Making a choice
Using my voice

I choose to speak my truth.

The drama to remove
The discord to diffuse

Release the stress accrued
Just the facts, not misconstrued

Take responsibility
To boldly step into "me."

-Melissa Whiteford St. Clair

A portion of the proceeds from each book will be donated to The Harriet Tubman Monument until monies are raised for installation next to Tabernacle Baptist Church, Craven Street, Beaufort, SC.
