The Orange Effect Foundation Awards Speech Grants for Winter 2022
By: The Orange Effect Foundation
"Every quarter I am more and more motivated by the children that OEF serves." said Craig Coffey, Orange Effect Foundation Board Member. "This quarter, for example, we were able to give a grant to a teen who is a ward of the state and only has access to a communication device when at school. The recipient is so excited to be able to 'talk' all the time and looks forward to getting a job."
Fourth quarter 2022 grants were awarded by the Orange Effect Foundation to fund speech therapy or purchase speech devices for children with speech disorders. Grants are effective as of December 9, 2022. The Orange Effect Foundation's grants are drawn from the generous support of the community, including participants in the recent 100 Holes of Golf Marathon and the OEF Golf for Autism.
Thanks to Orange Effect Foundation board members, volunteers, and supporters, $8,967 was raised this quarter through multiple fundraising events including the Spartan Run through Case Western Reserve University, Platform Brewery Happy Hour and Silence for Speech.
With these grant awards, the Orange Effect Foundation has funded 333 children in 36 states. Grants have purchased 93 speech devices and more than 6,200 hours of speech therapy. The next deadline to submit a grant application is February 1, 2023. Information about the application process and upcoming events can all be found at www.theorangeeffect.org.
About the Orange Effect Foundation
The foundation, while officially formed in 2014, actually began back in 2001, when the founders' son was born with autism. Early intervention helped him to become a heartwarming and independent young man. The Pulizzi family wanted to give back by empowering other children with the therapy and tools they need to communicate effectively.
