Everybody Pays by H. Max Hiller

Detective Cadillac Holland finds himself performing a dangerous dance staying a step behind a mobster's missing diaries and a step ahead of the criminal factions who want them.

QUINCY, Ill. - Sept. 14, 2022 - PRLog -- A mobster's twenty-year-old diaries bring havoc to the New Orleans as syndicates from around the globe vie for control of the city's criminal underworld in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Marion Puglisi, a former pimp and contract killer for the Carlos Marcello crime family, has a book deal and a parole which hinge on sharing the written record he kept detailing nearly thirty years of misconduct and crimes by fellow mobsters, local and federal law enforcement, and powerful people in city and state government over a thirty-year period everyone hoped was long forgotten.

Detective Holland finds himself in the middle of a brewing gang war between the remnants of the city's Italian mobsters and criminal factions which include the nearby Dixie Mafia and an ambitious Russian gangster who has been planning his move for longer than anyone could imagine. It is up to him to keep any of the criminal factions from gaining a foothold and recover the diaries which have gone missing just as Marion Puglisi gets released from prison. The careers and safety of law enforcement peers and his own family are at stake, and things have never been riskier for a detective with a reputation for stirring things up.
