CANTIL, Calif. - Aug. 12, 2022 - PRLog -- Maricela Cornejo, the former WBC International Middleweight Champion who currently hosts the 'Mari!' show on the TVS Television Network, will clash with former WBF Champion Noni Tenge in an October fight that will serve as a pivotal advancement for womens boxing and a personal challenge of redemption for the two former champions. The fight not only focuses on the advance of the state of womens boxing, but also the establishment of South Africa as a championship boxing destination for such fights.

Maricela Cornejo is an iconic story in womens boxing. A model and TeleNovela TV actress, she ventured into  Manny Pacquio's gym in Hollywood to shed weight for a TV commercial and came out an aspiring boxer. Already a top collegiate athlete in softball and volleyball (she once hit a ball out of Dodger Stadium), Cornejo quickly proved no match for amateurs, and quickly became a pro, where she stormed up the World Rankings, won the WBC International Middleweight Champiomnship, only to lose twice in WBC World Championships.

Noni Tenge indeed was a WBF World Champion, only to be stripped of her title by the WBF..
The South African is now front and center to battle Cornejo in their mutual quest to advance the state of womens boxing globally, citing the WBF as a leader in supporting the advance of womens boxing and women boxers. Both boxers have been active advocates for the advance of womens boxing.

TVS has just renewed the 'Mari' TV show for a second season. It airs internationally on broadcast TV, cable TV, IPTV, streaming, and OTT platforms. In season two, the show will be produced in both English and Spanish. The TVS Television Network was founded in 1960 and is the fourth oldest commercial broadcast TV network in the USA.
