Yours Humanly Names Two Teens as Recipients of Its Children Have the Power to Empower Award

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - June 16, 2022 - PRLog -- Yours Humanly, a global nonprofit that transforms the lives of children in need around the world by providing access to quality education and equitable resources, has named two teens as 2022 recipients of its Children Have the Power to Empower® Award, which recognizes children for their outstanding acts of goodness that make a significant difference in the lives of others.

Kerry Koranteng, 14, of Chicago, Illinois, received the Children Have the Power to Empower Award for the outstanding acts of goodness she performs through the KerryK Foundation, the nonprofit she founded to help desperately poor children in Ghana by providing shoes to those who daily go barefoot in harsh and unsafe conditions. She has donated more than 1,000 pairs of shoes to underserved children, and raised more than $4,000 to cover the cost of shipping and transporting the shoes directly to those in need.

Steven Hoffen, 14, of New York, New York, received the Children Have the Power to Empower Award for the outstanding acts of goodness he performs through Growing Peace, the nonprofit he founded to help people around the world suffering from food insecurity and hunger. He has raised more than $15,000 to buy, build, and install a hydroponics system at a food bank in Tel Aviv, Israel. Hoffen plans to bring that program to the United States next year.
