Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Pan-Africanism, develop their leadership skills, and engage in a cultural learning experience. The screening is part of the Akwaaba Community Teach-In Series being conducted by the non-profit organization, Planting People Growing Justice™ Leadership Institute (PPGJLI), founded by Tyner. In 2019, Tyner led a pilgrimage to Ghana as part of "The Year of the Return" that marked the 400th anniversary of when the first ships arrived in the U.S. carrying enslaved Africans. The trip provided travelers with a unique Sankofa experience that's recorded in "The Ghana Year of Return Trip" documentary. During the screening, individuals will learn about the Senchi Ferry, the Trans-Atlantic slave trade, the pain and indignity of the Last Bath, the Cape Coast slave castle, and the Door of No Return. For those that were unable to make the pilgrimage in person, the documentary provides a way for African Americans to experience their lost heritage and learn about the struggles of their ancestors. The event is just one of the efforts by the PPGJLI (https://www.ppgjli.org/ End
