ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Sept. 2, 2021 - PRLog -- The 3-Day Novel-Writing Challenge, where erstwhile authors try their hand at writing a full-length novel within 72 hours, is back again this Labor Day weekend but with a twist:  B Shawn Clark (among First Run Books' stable of authors) will be taking the challenge while streaming live from the old Florida "resort" (and burgeoning artist retreat) at Manasota Beach Club.

"I conceived of the idea for this novel while on a retreat with a group of fellow artists this past July at MBC," said Clark.

"I thought it only fitting to try to breath life into this concept while holed up in one of the cabins here, surf crashing in the background, surrounded by nature and threatened by hurricanes, working on a nearly impossible-to-meet deadline."

While in 2006 and 2009 the efforts of contestants were aired for two seasons of BookTelevision's 3-Day Novel Contest reality series, this year the producers at First Run Books have decided to unleash one of their own into the world, agreeing to allow Clark to live stream while he makes his third attempt at writing a novel in just 72 hours.

Clark's first effort (in 2019) yielded Maxkii-Wiicheew ("Red Wolfe" in Lunaape) that is due out next year (published by First Run Books).  The second effort (BRICKS) is appearing on Kindle Vella starting this Labor Day weekend (to coincide with the anniversary of when that story was written by Clark).

"You really cannot expect to write a very long novel that is any good in just 72 hours," said Clark.  "Maybe they should call it the 3-Day Novella contest."
