UNION, N.J. - Aug. 31, 2021 - PRLog -- New black-owned small business Babies in Motions' supports infant and toddler development with a bi-monthly subscription service designed especially for caregivers & parents. Subscribers of the woman-owned, family company receive a box of new items tailored to the developmental needs of their child and a matching activity guide that aligns with key developmental milestones.

Babies in Motions encourages little ones from the ages of 6 weeks to 36 months, with a focus on the five developmental domains: social development, emotional development, cognitive, physical and language and communication. With three unique subscriptions, the company supports parents and caregivers, delivering the necessary building blocks to track and improve child development.

Play is how children first learn to experience and interact with the world, as well as practice essential new skills (Paley, 2004). Through play, children learn about their environment and engage in activities that promote cognitive, emotional, and social development (Elkind, 2007). Additional research shows that parents who talk to their infants and toddlers about everyday tasks share 45 million words with them, more than 32 million more than those who don't.

"Play is an essential part of childhood development and an important opportunity for parents and caregivers to interact with children. It's so important, in fact, that the United Nations recognizes play as a human right," said Stacy Salley-Proctor, founder, Babies in Motions. "We wanted to create a tool focused on both caregivers and children, tailored to their unique needs as the child grows and begins to discover, explore, and create. That's why we include items specifically for caregivers in every box, as well as toys and books that promote engaging play and strong development."

Infants and toddlers take part in different types of play at each stage of development (Guyton, 2011). In each Babies in Motions delivery, an interactive activity guide aligned with key developmental milestones helps caregivers track and support child development, identify delays in reaching milestones, and support essential skills development working towards each milestone. The boxes are curated by a team of childhood development experts with more than thirty years of experience and each item is thoroughly researched to identify alignment with the developmental domains.

The three subscription options are: Discover Box (6 months to 15 months), Explore Box (15 months to 24 months), and Create Box (24 months to 36 months). Each one focuses on the different abilities an age group is developing at that time and contains:
  • Two or more educational toys
  • One age-appropriate book
  • Two caregiver appreciation gifts
  • One activity card

"Every caregiver can be an educator and help contribute to their child's learning process. Kids have been missing out on important opportunities to play and develop during COVID-19 lockdowns, so it is more important than ever before to ensure we are interacting constructively with them each day," said Salley-Proctor. "Our hands-on activity guide is designed to help caregivers understand how to best use each item in the Babies in Motions subscription box to strengthen and build key skills."

Babies in Motions founder Stacy Salley-Proctor brings 30 years of hands-on experience in the field of early childhood education, combined with a master's degree in early childhood from Walden University. Her professional career in education includes leadership roles as executive director, educational supervisor, and regional coordinator.
