BUTLER, Pa. - Aug. 5, 2021 - PRLog -- The 22nd Annual Moraine State Park Regatta returns to Lake Arthur's South Shore (225 Pleasant Valley Road, Portersville, PA) on August 6-8. The festivities will span most of the shoreline and include both land and water activities. The Regatta lasts Friday 4:00-8:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am-10:00 pm, and Sunday 10:00 am-6:00 pm. The event has grown in popularity in recent years, drawing a record of over 23,000 attendees in 2019 before being postponed in 2020. Sponsored by Diehl Toyota, the event is free to attend, including parking.

Those free eco-recreational activities are part of Get Moving! Moraine (https://morainestateparkregatta.org/schedule/land-water-recreation/), an initiative aimed at introducing visitors of all ages to new sports and hobbies while showing off the park. 15 local partner organizations are offering dozens of free outings and lessons across various sports, including sailing, kayaking, standup paddleboarding, hiking, yoga, and more. Pre-registration is available online at www.wellnessliving.com/rs/event/moraine_state_park_regatta.

The 2021 Regatta will also feature the inaugural Moraine Regatta 5K (https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Portersville/MoraineRegatta5k). Competitors of all ages can run or walk along Lake Arthur on the Sunken Garden Trail, with awards for the top male and female finishers in each age category. A portion of the race's proceeds will benefit the Moraine Preservation Fund's efforts to conserve and improve the park. Two additional races will take place on the lake over the weekend: the 3rd Annual Pittsburgh Paddlesports Championship (https://runsignup.com/pghpaddle21) benefitting the American Cancer Society and the 7th Annual PA SUP Championship (https://www.surfsupadventures.com/sup/race/2021).

Entertainment during the weekend will highlight various local artists and organizations. The main stage will host Live at Lake Arthur 2021, featuring musical performances by the Pittsburgh Youth Choir (2:00-3:00 pm), Pierce Dipner (4:00-6:30 pm), and Sun Champs (7:00-10:00 pm) on Saturday and Time Tested from 3:00-6:00 pm on Sunday. A fireworks finale by Kellner's Fireworks will cap off Saturday's festivities around 9:00 pm. And Sunday afternoon, the Oliver Outdoor Native Butterfly Release returns to the Regatta. Attendees can buy a monarch butterfly in tribute to a loved one and release it during the event, culminating in the mass release of hundreds of butterflies across the event area. Butterflies are available for purchase at www.eventbrite.com/e/butterfly-release-tickets-157796388245.
