Businessman & former NFL player Derrick Chambers elected Board Chair of Youth Leadership Foundation

 
WASHINGTON - Aug. 4, 2021 - PRLog -- Washington, D.C. — The Youth Leadership Foundation's (YLF) Board of Directors voted last week to elect Derrick Chambers as its new Board Chair. Chambers will replace Gerard Mitchell, who served as Chair since 2003 and will assume the role of Vice Chair during this historic transition.

"I'm so grateful to Gerry for what he has meant to YLF," said YLF Executive Director Janaiha Bennett. "He has been a bulwark for our programs and a mentor to our staff for 18 years.

"In Derrick, Gerry has found a successor who truly understands our mission and ethos. I welcome his dynamic leadership to the Board."

Chambers is a former member of the National Football League (NFL), having played for the Carolina Panthers and Jacksonville Jaguars. Chambers is also a former member of the NFLPA, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley. An alumnus of the University of Florida, Chambers is currently Manager at World Business Lenders, LLC.

The Youth Leadership Foundation provides quality one-on-one, value-based mentoring programs for students aged 7 to 17 across the Washington, DC metro area. Serving over 350 DC and MD youth each year, YLF facilitates empowerment through joy, excellence, and a spirit of service while building character, emphasizing personal growth, and creating transformative mentorship experiences.
