New Lebanon, New York, USA – FairTSA, an innovative global Fair Trade standard holder, announces completion of a formal licensing agreement with Tierra & Lava, S.A. Immersed in a biodiverse climate in Guatemala, Tierra & Lava provides a wide range of unique ingredients they use in their formulas. All ingredients are locally sourced in an ethical and transparent way to ensure quality from inception to final product. They build relationships with the farmers and financially support them so they can carry on the legacy of their disappearing traditional cultural practices.
Tierra & Lava is a zero-waste company - any unrecyclable plastics (such as some food wrappers) are repurposed into eco-bricks that are used as borders in their garden. About one eco-brick is produced every two weeks. A local recycling company picks up any materials and by-products that can be easily recycled.
They are closely tethered to the earth - "tierra" is the Spanish word for earth, and "lava" is in homage to the 37 volcanoes in Guatemala that enrich the soil with the nutrients that grow the unique ingredients for their skin and hair care products.
"We are very pleased to be working with a company like Tierra & Lava, S.A., supporting their mission of providing the highest quality organic and natural ingredients, in an ethical, moral and sustainable fashion," said Dr. Winfried Fuchshofen, FairTSA Executive Director. "Their commitment to healthy living, worker welfare and the environment is a great fit for our business model."
Fair TSA is a New Lebanon, NY, based innovative Fair Trade program working in world-wide partnership with established ISO/IEC 17065:2012 accredited organic certifiers to provide zero-carbon, lowest cost, fully transparent, shortest cycle certifications, incorporating a mandatory community development component and project-based accountability.
