Taste the New Forest Campaign Launched

By: Go New Forest
BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - April 7, 2021 - PRLog -- Today sees the launch of 'Taste the New Forest', a celebration of  great food and drink throughout the seasons. The timing couldn't be better, as it follows last night's screening of Fred Sirieix's BBC2 film, 'Remarkable Places to Eat in the New Forest' an extraordinary showcase of just a few of the destination's gastronomic delights.

A special Taste the New Forest campaign section has been created at https://www.thenewforest.co.uk/taste-the-new-forest to promote food & drink festivals, events and activities. Also included are local recipes, monthly local produce and hospitality personalities, farmers markets and seasonal crops, plus details of where to eat, shop, picnic and get that special food and drink deal using the Go New Forest Card.

Events with a local produce flavour already finalised include Dogstival (5/6 June) – a fun filled festival for four-legged friends, Lymington Seafood Festival in July, and New Forest Eats & Treats which takes place in the run up to Christmas. Other festivals, special events and activities will be announced over the coming weeks and months.

The Taste the New Forest campaign gets underway on 12 April, when pubs (https://www.thenewforest.co.uk/food-and-drink/pubs-and-bars), restaurants (https://www.thenewforest.co.uk/food-and-drink/restaurants), cafes and tea rooms (https://www.thenewforest.co.uk/food-and-drink/cafes-and-tea-rooms) reopen their gardens and outdoor spaces once again. The whole thing will gain momentum as the weather warms up over the spring and summer months, when visitors can look forward to enjoying a spot of tea, a picnic or perhaps something more substantial to eat both indoors and outdoors.

Nearly all New Forest pubs (most are dog friendly) have socially distanced outdoor spaces – many of them covered – so visitors can enjoy a pint of local beer and a locally sourced meal whilst breathing in the refreshing air and absorbing the ambience of the forest.

Comments Anthony Climpson, OBE, Chief Executive of organisers Go New Forest: "The last 12 months have been awful, but now there is light at the end of the tunnel as we start to welcome back visitors – either day trippers or those taking a self-catering break or from 17 May when our Hotels and B&Bs re-open.

"Since the pandemic started, the great outdoors has never been more alluring, and our campaign will build on all that with a very local spin put on themes including afternoon teas, pub gardens, picnics, local produce hampers and much more.

"Our local food is very seasonal, providing lots of new reasons to visit the forest throughout the year from eggs in the spring to Pannage pork in the autumn, whatever month people choose to visit, there will be a delicious local food and drink delight waiting for them."
