AdvisorSmith Finds the Best Cities for Accountants

NEW YORK - April 1, 2021 - PRLog -- AdvisorSmith, a leading resource for small business and economic contact, published its newest analysis. They analyzed 363 U.S. cities to find the top small, midsize, and large cities in the country that offer the best opportunities for accountants.

To find the top cities, AdvisorSmith examined three key variables: density of accounting jobs, average annual account salaries, and a city's cost of living.

AdvisorSmith examined the 363 cities to see which ones had a higher concentration of accounting jobs than the general worker population. The higher the location quotient, the more jobs are available, and the easier it should be to find a job for accountants in a given geographic area.

The study considered the average annual salary earned by accountants in each city. The higher the average salary, the more highly the city was ranked. The average salary for accountants was roughly $79,520, which is far above the average salary of $53,490 for all jobs nationwide.

The salaries were adjusted using a cost of living multiplier that accounted for differences in housing costs and other living expenses in each city. By accounting for differences, AdvisorSmith could equalize the value of salaries in different metropolitan areas.

From the research, AdvisorSmith determined that the best city for accountants was Parkersburg, West Virginia. Accountants in Parkersburg earned an average salary of $80,740, and the city had a cost of living that was 16 percent below the national average. The city also hosted 70 percent more jobs for accountants than the average city.
