| Occupational Exposure Risks to Nickel Discussed in New Online VideoThe IAQ Video Network releases another educational production about an important environmental, health and safety (EHS) topic.
"Workers in various occupations can be exposed to nickel by breathing dust containing it, through skin contact, or by consuming food or water with it," said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates and the IAQ Video Network. "The Agency for Toxic Substances & Disease Registry reports that 10-20% of the population is sensitive to nickel exposure. A common health effect of exposure is an allergic reaction. Less frequently, some people who are sensitive to nickel have asthma attacks following exposure. Chronic bronchitis and reduced lung function, along with cancers of the lung and nasal sinus, have resulted in workers breathing elevated levels of nickel compounds and dusts." This video was sponsored by a number of organizations and leading industry professionals that work to protect and enhance the public's health and safety. Sponsors include EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental and Healthy Indoors Magazine to name a few.
