MONROE, La. - Jan. 19, 2021 - PRLog -- This year has been a challenging one in general, and especially hard hit has been the hospitality sector. While the hotel business is currently not for the faint of heart, the owner of InterMountain Hotels, Dewey Weaver, remains passionate to this day about the industry he deemed would be his lifelong aspiration to be part of from the early age of 11 years old.

In 1966, Dewey would head to the Ramada Inn in Emporia, KS after school, put on an apron and wash dishes in the hotel restaurant until closing. Just a few years later Dewey's parents moved their family to Northwest Arkansas, where they purchased a motel in Springdale and where he grew up in and around the hotel, learning the value of quality and service in all aspects of hotel operations.

In 1978, after graduating from the University of Arkansas, Dewey moved with his family to Monroe, Louisiana. It was there that Dewey and his father formed InterMountain Management. Monroe would also be the location of Dewey's first property purchased without his family's assistance, the Super 8 West Monroe. Initially operating the company out of his mother's spare bedroom, Dewey eventually moved the headquarters to Monroe's Tower Drive.

In the years to follow, InterMountain's growth was steady and strong. In 1994 InterMountain was first approved by Marriott to manage one of their own properties, soon followed by management approval of a Hilton branded hotel in 1996. Now with a nationwide portfolio of 85 hotels comprised primarily of extended-stay and select-service, InterMountain remains family-owned and operated and continues to appreciate strong relationships with not only Marriott and Hilton, but also Hyatt and IHG. Recognizing the value of industry collaboration, he and other leaders within the company are active members on a variety of franchise advisory councils with brand partners.

Today, the solid InterMountain culture and capabilities exist founded upon Dewey's historic experiences, unique owner's perspective, and an unwavering focus on establishing productive, long-lasting relationships with owners, brands, and developers, and taking fantastic care of guests. With an intense focus on service and attention to what Dewey often refers to as "a business of a thousand details", InterMountain remains a leader in hospitality management, expanding their business to include seasoned in-house teams dedicated to driving success for their hotels and partners by providing a variety of third-party services; construction, development, renovation, design, procurement, and revenue generation services.

Since its founding, InterMountain has built and/or renovated over 200 properties nationwide and endured the many ebbs and flows of this industry with 2020 being the most daunting. Yet, Dewey has remained focused on the success of their owned and third-party managed hotel portfolio, his valued associates, and continued growth, with a current pipeline of 20+ hotel projects in various stages of development or repositioning. He remains fully committed to the long-term success of InterMountain and is actively involved in all aspects of the business.

Even with the challenges posed over the past year, InterMountain has accomplishments to celebrate and be grateful for including the expansion of their corporate operations to include a second office building to accommodate their growing team. They also added two existing hotels to their third-party managed portfolio and opened six newly built, two of which are InterMountain owned. InterMountain welcomed The Estes Park Resort in Estes Park, Colorado, an independent upscale resort, to their managed portfolio at the start of the year. This was followed by opening TownePlace Suites El Paso East/I10, Texas; Hilton Garden Inn Destin Miramar Beach, Florida; TownePlace Suites Panama City Beach Pier Park, Florida; Home2 Atascadero, California; TownePlace Suites Sacramento Airport Natomas, California; and SpringHill Suites Albuquerque University Area, New Mexico. InterMountain finished the year by taking over management of the established Staybridge Suites Omaha 80th & Dodge, Nebraska in the early fall.

And there is still positivity about the future of hospitality and continued growth at InterMountain, with eight hotels currently under construction, six of them scheduled to open across the United States to compliment the portfolio in 2021.
