-- JCSI has partnered with the Community Harvest Project (CHP) to hold a successful Giving Tuesday Fundraising Campaign. On December 1, 2020, CHP took part in Giving Tuesday, one of the largest single days of non-profit and charitable giving across the globe, to fundraise $5,500 to replace a Mulch Layer.
With a matching gift of $1,000 provided by JCSI, Community Harvest Project exceeded their goal and was able to raise $6,600.
"JCSI is happy to participate in the Giving Tuesday event with the Community Harvest Project. As a local company, we have volunteered with Community Harvest for many years as a way to give back to our community and to serve as a team-building event. This year we are happy to provide a company match donation of up to $1,000 to help fund CHP. We look forward to getting back in the fields at CHP in the spring and to continue partnering with such an amazing organization!"

These funds will be used to replace CHP's Mulch Layer- a tractor implement that tills soil, lays irrigation lines, and covers rows in protective plastic to prevent weeds and drought from affecting the plants.
Replacement of this tool is critical to the farm as CHP begins to plan for the 2021 season, during which the increased need for food services caused by the COVID-19 crisis is expected to continue. According to Feeding America, out of the entire country, Massachusetts has seen the highest percent increase of residents facing food insecurity.
