Cerex Advanced Fabrics, Inc named a Finalist for the 2020 Sterling Award
Cantonment, FL – The Florida Sterling Council and FloridaMakes announced today that Cerex Advanced Fabrics is one of 10 manufacturing companies to have been named as finalists for the Florida Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence (SMBE) Awards. The winners, chosen from among the finalists, will be announced at the 2020 Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence Awards Virtual Celebration on Oct. 2.
Cerex Advanced Fabrics, Inc, located in the Pensacola Florida area, is an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer of a broad range of specialty spunbond nylon fabrics. With more than 50 years of industry expertise, they are the largest manufacturer and global leader of specialty nylon fabric solutions.
"Being recognized by The Florida Sterling Council as a 2020 finalist is a great achievement for our employees and company", says James Walker, President and CEO. "Our team based philosophy has empowered our employees and transformed our organization's ability to deliver world class products and service to our customers."
The Florida Sterling Council and FloridaMakes collaborated on these statewide awards to recognize the state's high-performing manufacturers. Cerex Advanced Fabrics was evaluated on six categories of criteria, including:
· Strategic Planning
· Customer and Market Focus
· Analysis and Knowledge Management
· Workforce and Operations
"As a top performing manufacturer, Cerex is wired to always want to be the best. Stepping into a process like this is humbling and it gives us the chance to re-affirm what we know is working and tweak what will take us to the next level" says James Hodge, Plant Manager.
"Becoming an SMBE Finalist requires time and commitment from a company and their team," said Kevin Carr, CEO of FloridaMakes. "I commend the 10 Finalists for their dedication and willingness to put themselves through the assessment process to find improvement opportunities."
A team of Florida Sterling-trained examiners and manufacturing community representatives contributed their time and expertise to evaluate nominations, including site visits and interviews of our management team.
In addition to recognizing Florida companies, the awards provide a framework for sharing manufacturing best practices. We will be working with FloridaMakes and the Northwest Florida Manufacturing Council on knowledge-sharing opportunities, such as plant tours, webinars, and leadership events.
