WISH YOU WERE HERE: B&Bs Launch Digital Postcard Campaign that's Good Enough to EatMore than three dozen inns dotting the U.S. and beyond are coming together to offer a slice of comfort with recipes for baked apple goods that quarantined travelers can make at home in a nod toward National Apple Pie
By: Bed & Brunch PR "We miss our guests," said Tamara Ehlin, owner of The Forsyth B&B in Kingston, New York, whose postcard features a mouthwatering apple tart. "Innkeepers aren't inclined to 'social distance,' so this has been a very difficult time on many fronts." The new promotion includes 42 recipes, which the innkeepers will share via email, e-newsletter, and social media – culminating in batches of tweets, each inn individually sharing its entire recipe in 280-characters or less on May 13. "If the travelers can't come to us, we'll go to the travelers," said Samanta Franzetti, innkeeper at the Al Nifontano B&B in Varese, Italy. Al Nifontano's digital postcard features an exquisite Italian torta di mele, aka apple pie. The move comes as a way to 'digitally un-distance' and forge a connection with the travelers that the inns so wish could be sitting across the table, not on the other side of a computer screen. Many of the properties involved are presently closed, as mandated by their states, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each bed and breakfast, inn, and boutique hotel is monitoring the news – nationally and specific to their local area and will begin to welcome guests as soon as reasonably appropriate. As the shelter-in-place orders remain, the independent lodging industry, as many others, has suffered unprecedented financial hardships. Property owners have had to contend with the loss of income and the anxiousness over the loss of their home – since many owners live on the premises too. All of the participating properties are part of STILL INN BUSINESS, a preparedness campaign that launched earlier this month and has upward of 260 members. All 42 recipes, images of postcards, food photos, and property photos are available upon request. These are the 41 properties (+1 lodging association) Contact Maria Coder ***@gmail.com Photos: https://www.prlog.org/ https://www.prlog.org/ https://www.prlog.org/ End
