By: White Lion Audio Independent Singer Nita Chawla and Producer Matthew Insco are using social media to reach others during the worldwide lockdown. Their new single, "Set You Free" is available on all music platforms through White Lion Audio and The Orchard. Additionally, the pair created some unique opportunities to reach those close to them. "The world feels quieter and calmer," Nita says. "I've been able to go online and perform which is something I've been wanting to do!" Last week, Nita helped to host a week-long Facebook event called "Soulspiration" She goes on to say, "This pandemic has been a sobering experience. It's felt like a stripping away of what's unnecessary, leaving us with what we really need and care about. I've realized that there's a lot I can let go of and only a few things worth really prioritizing like our health, relationships, quality time together, time in nature and creativity." Born in Mississippi and raised just outside of Washington, DC, Nita began her musical journey at age 3, singing Hindi songs with her parents and older sister. After years of classical piano and acoustic guitar training, her first teenage heartbreak inspired her to begin songwriting. In 2007 she performed regularly at a local bookstore in her hometown, (Germantown, MD). Since then, Nita's gypsy spirit has taken her to many venues around the country and the world such as the Hard Rock Cafe in DC, New York City's National Underground, Room Five in Los Angeles, and even Ronnie Scott's in London, UK. Her living room is now the stage, but her love for reaching others through music remains the same. "We are happy to keep sharing more of this with the world," says Nita. "We truly feel music brings joy and healing."
