| Preparation for the IIT JEE Examination by Best Study MaterialBy: Dishapublication Joint Engineering Examination, (formerly known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination) About JEE JEE is conducted by the National Testing Agency in January as well as April. It consists of two parts, JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main is for admission into the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and the Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs). While JEE Advanced is for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Scientific and Educational Research (IISERs). Only those students who have successfully cleared the JEE Mains are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced. JEE Main It consists of two papers, i.e., Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates have the choice to appear in either one or both of the papers. Both the papers comprise of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). While Paper 1 for admission into BE/B.Tech courses, Paper 2 is for B.Arch and B.Planning. Paper 1 is conducted online while Paper 2 is conducted offline. JEE Main has a fixed examination structure and is conducted for a duration of 3 hours. The questions covers physics, chemistry and maths. JEE Advanced This is the 2nd phase of the entrance examination and is conducted by the different IITs every year on a rotational basis. This exam too is based on physics, chemistry and maths and the questions are objective type. Pattern of JEE 2020 There were some changes which were introduced last year in the pattern of the JEE question papers which are as follows: The number of questions has been reduced. Questions in all the sections, i.e., will comprise of 20 Multiple Choice Questions and 5 integer questions. Each question carries 4 marks. Incorrect answers will get a negative marking of 1 mark. Statistics On an average, around 11-12 lakh candidates appear for JEE for a total of 25000 seats (in IITs, NITs, IIITs).
