L'Enfant Bar & Grill's Inventive Plant-Based Menu Impresses at "A Night of Covert Creations"

The restaurant's locally sourced menu includes several creative and hearty vegan entrees
 
WASHINGTON - Dec. 4, 2019 - PRLog -- L'Enfant Bar & Grill, located in the lobby level of the new Hilton Washington DC National Mall (480 L'Enfant Plaza; 202-484-1000) hosted a VIP culinary experience, "A Night of Covert Creations," on Thursday, November 14, 2019.  Attendees enjoyed a flavor-filled evening, sampling the restaurant's unique plant-based dishes and both full-proof and zero-proof versions of seasonal cocktails, created by the talented mixologists from Columbia Room.

Every aspect of the event's menu was thoughtfully created by the hotel and restaurant's Executive Chef Jonathan Wainwright.  The event was attended by culinary industry insiders, local "foodie" influencers, members of Hilton Hotels & Resorts corporate team, and individuals from the community curious about the fully plant-based menu.  The undisputed crowd favorite was the Indian Masala "Meatballs," served with coconut basmati rice and mango chutney. This meatball dish is now available at L'Enfant Grill & Bar, along with other popular plant-based entrees including Cauliflower Steak with chickpea curry and butter naan, and the Beyond Burger, topped with sautéed mushrooms, caramelized onions, lettuce and tomato.

Perfectly situated above the L'Enfant Plaza Metro station, L'Enfant Bar & Grill has become a popular destination for locals, as a much needed business lunch and happy hour spot, as well as for hotel guests eager to sample inspired regional cuisine in an inviting location.

"When designing our menu, it was important to honor the cuisine of the greater DMV area, and represent the farmers, dairies, fishermen, and distillers/brewers of the region," says Chef Johnathan Wainwright.  "Likewise, it was also important to create an inclusive dining experience, where vegans and vegetarians have entrée options to be excited about too! Whether diners opt for plant-based selections for health/dietary reasons, environmental concerns, or just personal preference, L'Enfant's menu provides ample meatless options, that are just as delicious and unique as the rest."  The hotel and restaurant does not view their plant-based culinary initiatives as a passing trend, rather as part of the necessary and long term evolution of dining styles.
