"I'm overwhelmed by the big hearts of our employees at Kansas Palliative & Hospice Care to donate monthly from their paychecks and commit to helping a great organization," Won By One To Jamaica was founded in 1989 by Henry Shaffer who went to Jamaica to help with hurricane relief. By simple word of mouth, and through friends joining them, Henry began to lead two groups per year to Harmons, a mountainous community in South Central Jamaica. Now WBOTJ welcomes over 850 volunteers from the United States each year. The ministry desires to consistently show Jamaicans and Americans, through words and actions, that they are loved and that they have worth and value as ones who bear the image of God. "What a joy it was to speak to the heroes at the Kansas Palliative Care yesterday. After sharing with them about our ministry in Jamaica and the financial needs we have for our Jamaican staff, they generously opened their hearts and their wallets. That generosity will help us keep Jamaicans employed in a community that has little to no employment opportunities. Thank you for partnering with us to give a hand up to some wonderful Jamaican friends," said Loyd Jackson, Operations Director at Won By One To Jamaica. Won By One To Jamaica ministry is about building relationships – with fellow team members, with Jamaicans, and with the Lord – and they strive to offer opportunities that allow each of those relationships to be fostered. Their weeklong mission trips include hard work, eye opening experiences, compassion, team building, and individual spiritual growth. Learn more at http://www.wonbyonetojamaica.com. End
