Southern Oregon Cannabis Company Fights to End Alzheimer's Disease

CENTRAL POINT, Ore. - Aug. 15, 2019 - PRLog -- Of the top ten causes of death in the United States, Alzheimer's Disease is the only one that cannot be prevented, cured, delayed, or slowed.  There are 16 million Americans working as caregivers for 5 million men and women that suffer from this terrible disease. Every 65 seconds, someone in the US is diagnosed.  The Walk to End Alzheimer's, organized every year by the Alzheimer's Association to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's support, care, and research, is held in more than 600 communities worldwide.  For the fourth consecutive year, Sun Breeze, Inc., a Southern Oregon-based family of seed-to-sale herbal companies, including retail stores Breeze Botanicals, is joining the fight by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's and raising funds for the Alzheimer's Association.

Sun Breeze, Inc. will be raising funds for the Walk to End Alzheimer's through grassroots fundraising efforts, through the Breeze Botanicals herbal apothecaries and cannabis dispensaries in Ashland and Gold Hill, OR as well as donating 10% of capsule sales manufactured by Sun God Medicinals for the OLCC cannabis dispensary market.  Since 2016, Sun Breeze, Inc. has raised $5,500 for the Alzheimer's Association and more than 50 people have walked with their team. This year, Sun Breeze, Inc. has set a goal of raising at least $4,500 for the event, significantly increasing donations raised in previous years.

Sun Breeze, Inc. chooses this cause each year due to the potentially powerful connection between the cannabis and hemp products produced and sold by the Sun Breeze family of companies.  According to a study published in 2014 in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, phytocannabinoids such as delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol may be powerful neuroprotectants that could be utilized in Alzheimer's treatments.  "Many of the customers that we've served at Breeze Botanicals and Sun God Medicinals tell us how their lives have been affected by Alzheimer's, whether they're a patient, caretaker, family member or friend of someone living with the disease," said Brie Malarkey, Founder and CEO of Sun Breeze, Inc.
