Coeducational college prep school Cary Academy chooses Mondo Super X track to upgrade track and field venue
Track from industry leader in sport track surfaces is ideal for both competition and training
CARY, N.C. - June 26, 2019 - PRLog -- A coeducational college preparatory school in North Carolina, Cary Academy, has chosen a Mondo Super X track to upgrade its track and field venue.
Designed and manufactured by Mondo, the industry leader in sport track innovation and expertise, Super X provides the optimal blend of energy return, comfort, safety and durability for everything from daily training to the toughest competitions. At Cary Academy, the new track will replace a latex rubber track that needed resurfacing every five to seven years.
"Selecting Mondo was a decision not just to replace an aging track, but a decision to move to a much higher standard," said Conrad Hall, Cary Academy's head coach for track and field and cross country. "The Mondo track will be a huge upgrade in every way. We're excited to have a premium surface from the provider of the competition track for so many Olympic Games. We're also proud to be the first high school in North Carolina, and one of just a few in the South, with a Mondo surface."
When school officials compared track options, Mondo stood out for a handful of reasons.
"The main reasons we chose Mondo are to provide healthy training for our athletes, for its high-performance attributes and for its durability and lasting value," Hall said. "We also chose Mondo because of the company's tradition and reputation, which we think will make the track a marquee feature of our athletic facilities."
Ideal for both training and high-level competition, Mondo track surfaces are made from rubber and vulcanized to produce a continuous, seamless piece of material that will not separate. In addition, they have a life expectancy of 15 years or more, won't compress or break down over time, can withstand heavy static and rolling loads, are easy to maintain with non-porous surfaces, and have a low total cost of ownership.
Among their other benefits:
· Durable—capable of withstanding heavy static loads.
· Hygienic—antibacterial and antimicrobial throughout.
· Low maintenance—
· Environmentally friendly—100%
"It has been a long time since our region has had a world-class, Olympic-quality track, and Cary Academy wanted to bring that resource back to the area," he said. "We anticipate that our Mondo track will be a big draw for teams and top high school athletes throughout North Carolina and beyond. With a Mondo track, we can offer an Olympic-quality track experience to high school track athletes and take our meet hosting to a new level, developing these competitions into feature events."
Americourt, Inc., a sports surfacing company in Raleigh, North Carolina, is the general contractor for the track renovation. Geo Surfaces, based in Mooresville, North Carolina, will support the track installation, which is scheduled to begin in July and be completed by the end of August.
