FREDERICK, Md. - June 19, 2019 - PRLog -- The Landless Theatre Company announces its third annual production of the classic musical 1776 at the Weinberg Center for the Arts June 28 through June 30, 2019.  The musical dramatizes the days leading up to the signing of our Declaration of Independence, bringing to life founding figures John and Abigail Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and many others.

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the Box Office at 301-600-2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick Street.  Discounts are available for students, children, military, and seniors. See direct ticketing link at the bottom of this release.

"In our current climate of polarized political opinions, it's important to remember that the founders of the United States frequently disagreed with each other - often vehemently," said Producing Artistic Director Andrew Baughman. "Each one was a patriot, and what better way to celebrate the 4th of July in Frederick." Baughman will co-direct the production with wife Melissa Baughman (2015 Helen Hayes Award Outstanding Director nominee), and appear in the role of John Adams. The production concept features a core of professional actors with local elected officials and community leaders in the supporting roles. "By reaching out to community leaders and local elected officials from various parties to take part in this production, we hope to bridge the gap between the public and the leaders who shape the policies of their city," said Baughman. "The arts have a wonderful way of bringing people together and engaging thoughtful conversation."

The current list of special guest performers includes Frederick's Mayor Michael O'Connor, Rick Weldon (former MD Delegate, President of Frederick Chamber of Commerce), Heather Bagnall (MD Delegate),  Thomas Lynch (Miles and Stockbridge Attorney and nonprofit supporter), Russ Hodge (Founder of 3 Roads Communication), Josh Pedersen (Former United Way of Frederick CEO, MD 2-1-1 referral system), Justin Kiska (President and Managing Director of Way Off Broadway and 2018 Candidate for Frederick County Council At-Large), and Terrence Moore (Linganore High School Choral Teacher). Regional actors include Matt Baughman, Bill Stitely, Robert Herbertson, David Horch, Laura J. Martin, Lee Merriman, Ray Shaw, and 2019 Linganore High School graduate Justin Barish.

The Landless Theatre Company is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating new and diverse audiences for live theatre. Founded in 2003, the company is most recently known for its METALTHEATRE movement to create rock orchestrations of classic musicals.
