PARIS - June 2, 2019 - PRLog -- Structural engineering today relies heavily on digital tools to meet growing demand. Digital tools are more commonly known today as BIM tools. These tools are very powerful and companies invest a lot of money to buy and train.
What is the interest for these tools?
Regarding concrete engineering:
BIM tools allow companies to perform load-descending calculations, column calculations, beam calculations, and footing calculations at a much faster rate than manual calculation.
Regarding steel engineering:
BIM tools allow to better represent and calculate the metallic connections, as well as to optimize the weights of the constructions; (the weight of the constructions has a direct impact on the cost of the project.
Regarding wood engineering:
Wood engineering is much more optimized because bim tools allow for quick simulations and to check how the structure behaves under these conditions.

In any case, the engineering of the structure rests nowadays mainly on digital tools. These digital tools are very powerful. But users must keep in mind that the accuracy of the results is relative to the precision of the operators who handle the software.
