Follow on Google News | Guadalupe Charity Golf Classic raises more than $84,000 to support Guadalupe CenterBy: Guadalupe Center Held April 8 at Vineyards Country Club in Naples, the Golf Classic attracted a record 136 golfers and included lunch and 18 holes of championship golf, followed by an awards party that featured cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, dinner and a silent auction. First place winners included golfers Charlie Cypress, Mateo Jimenez, Cicero Osceola and Mondo Tiger. The second place team was Derrick DeHays, Michael Meehan, Kas Ogasnowski and Ken Thomas, while the third place team consisted of Charles Brennan, Steven Graham, Jim Linus and Nicholas Mingone. Jackie Vasey was this year's tournament director. Proceeds from the golf tournament will support Guadalupe Center's three educational programs: Early Childhood Education for youth up to 5 years old; After-school Tutoring & Summer Enrichment for students in kindergarten, first and second grades; and Tutor Corps for college-bound students at Immokalee High School. Guadalupe Center is a nonprofit organization focused on breaking the cycle of poverty through education for the children of Immokalee.
