Home Helpers is the nation's leading franchise specializing in comprehensive home care for seniors, new mothers and individuals needing recuperative and continuing assistance. In addition to Home Helpers caregiver services, the company offers End of Life Doula services and Direct Link, its proprietary line of 24/7 medical alert systems, which includes a fall sensor with GPS locator and an automated medication dispenser.
Sherri Hunte, who will be leading the day-to-day operations of the business, worked as a part of Verizon's Management Field Operations team for 38 years with a focus on providing exceptional customer service. She also has been a caregiver for multiple family members during their battles with cancer. She saw the importance of caregivers and realized the need in the community. After much research, she decided to bring Home Helpers to the Nassau County area. She partnered with two family members, both be silent partners for now, who both understand the importance of caregiving – one who cared for both of terminally ill parents at a young age and one who has actively assisted older family members and neighbors with their daily needs, including shopping, yard work, dog walking and more.
"Home Helpers is a leader in the in-home care field and the franchise system gives us the opportunity to hit the ground running immediately with the support of a national team. We're looking forward to offering people in this community the kind of care we'd expect for our own loved ones. None of us know what the future brings and we want to know that the people in our community can turn to Home Helpers as their needs change," Hunte said.
Home Helpers specializes in helping families care for their loved ones so they can focus on spending quality time together – not just being full-time caregivers. Home Helpers' full-range of home care services empower clients to live healthier and more rewarding lives in the privacy, safety and comfort of wherever they call home.
Home Helpers offers free in-home consultations and works with each client to create a flexible, affordable care plan based on a person's individual needs. Services offered include personal care such as grooming, bathing, ambulation, medication management and care management as well as respite care, meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping, companionship and transportation. Home Helpers also does free in-home care assessments and in-home safety inspections.
Hunte has always wanted to be involved in the medical field and she understands the value of being able to receive care at home. For her, it's about treating clients as members of her own extended family.
"In our family and in our culture, we take care of our loved ones as they get older and whenever they need help. That's part of our roots. We want our clients to feel like they are part of our extended family too. Our caregivers and office personnel are exceptional and, if you ever need anything, we are local and just one call away," Hunte said. "When I was caring for my loved ones, I knew there was nothing that they wanted more than to be in the comfort of their own homes with family by their side. I have a passion for helping people and I know this is exactly what I am meant to do with my life."
