India Leads Nominations in 2018 for Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

HYDERABAD, India - Feb. 23, 2019 - PRLog -- The government of Ontario has issued 6,850 nominations for Canadian permanent residence in the previous year according to a new report by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program.  The nominations were issued to applicants from more than 147 countries. The report also indicated that a significant percentage of the nominations were bagged by persons holding an Indian passport.  Candidates who were born in India received a greater number of nominations from the province than applicants who were born in any other country. A total of 2,651 out of the 6,850 nominations which issued by the government of Ontario were awarded to applicants who held Indian citizenship.

Following a close second, were immigrants who descended from China. Individuals who were born in China amassed more than 1,400 nominations from the provincial government of Ontario, which translates to more than twenty per cent of the total nominations for the province. More over the report also revealed that more than half of the nominations were in favor of those waiting for Canada PR in the Express Entry program (https://globaltree.in/services/immigration/canada-immigra...)

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (https://globaltree.in/services/immigration/canada-immigra...) also known as OINP is one of the largest segments of the Provincial Nominee Program run by the government of Canada, which works in partnership with provinces to distribute the economic and social benefits brought in by immigration across different sections of the country.

The report which was published on 22nd Feb 2019 also reveals that the nominations accepted in the year 2018 would mean that more than 13,000 new immigrants would be expected in the province in the current year, taking spouses and dependents into account. The OINP takes in applications for nomination through streams – the Human Capital Priorities stream, French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream and Skilled Trades stream, all of which are aligned with the federally managed Express Entry system.

In another interesting takeaway from the report, nearly one fourth of the nominations were awarded to applicants who had a background in technology related work and had either work experience or a valid job offer in a tech related field. The occupations that came under this criterion included software engineers, computer programmers, media developers, IT systems analysts and others
