LOS ANGELES - Feb. 13, 2019 - PRLog -- A sneak preview of the award-winning supernatural-ghostly-thriller, "My Dead Selfie" will be shown in the Los Angeles area in the spring of 2019.  The film represents a new breed of cutting edge African American filmmakers who are venturing into the horror film market.  "My Dead Selfie" recently won The Best Experimental Feature Film Award presented at the prestigious Downtown LA Film Festival.

Themes of race and identity clash with the darkness of the occult in this indie film.  A seemingly perfect interracial marriage is tested when the husband begins practicing black magic passed down to him by his slave-owning ancestors.  Written and directed by Joy Shannon, the film promises to raise the audience's adrenaline.

Actress Sharena Walker plays the lead of Ginger, made her acting debut in the feature, Torment-A Love Story.  She is also recognized from recent episodes of "Upscale" with Prentiss Penny, and the Discovery Channel's Deadly Sins.

AJ Garrett plays the lead of Hal and two additional roles.  AJ has been acting professionally for a number of years.  He has an impressive resume after studying acting at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in New York City.  He has acted in both film and theater, receiving the coveted Off-Off Broadway Review Award for a Thornton Wilder play.

Composer Chris Amato's music is an integral part of driving the pace and setting the tone of "My Dead Selfie."  Chris a graduate of Northwestern University's Music and Recording Program, started his career as a multi-instrumentalist playing bass, trumpet and piano in various local bands.  Today he composes music for films and television incorporating classical, jazz and contemporary styles.
