CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Dec. 19, 2018 - PRLog -- Long known as the face of local morning news, Jane Monreal has been promoted to the evening desk as co-anchor at WFTX-TV, the Scripps-owned FOX affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida. Monreal, who first joined WFTX in 2016 as a weekday morning anchor, is now co-anchoring the station's 6, 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts with Patrick Nolan and Derek Beasley.

"Fox 4 has a strong record of producing quality news that both informs and enlightens, and I am excited and privileged to be part of leading the station into its next chapter," said Monreal. "As a newscaster with Florida roots, I've enjoyed being back home for the last two years, taking in the warm sunshine, immersing in our local arts & culture, and most importantly, connecting with the Southwest Florida community on what matters most to them."

Monreal's broadcast career spans over 20 years and every U.S. time zone. Before joining WFTX, she was a weekend anchor and breaking news anchor at Scripps-owned KSHB-TV, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri. Prior to that, she served as the morning co-anchor on KIII-TV, the ABC affiliate in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her previous experience also includes reporting for KWGN-TV and the CBS owned-and-operated station, KCNC-TV, in Denver, Colorado.

Monreal started her career in Los Angeles on the 24-hour news radio station, KFWB. She made the jump from radio to television at ABC's owned-and-operated KABC-TV, where she reported on traffic, weather and hosted a franchise segment, the "Top 7." While at KABC, she anchored its inaugural live webcast of the Academy Awards arrivals show, "On the Red Carpet," in 2007, and served as the station's Resident Dance Expert for the ABC show, "Dancing with the Stars."

Born in the Philippines and raised in South Florida, Monreal calls Florida home. She graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor's degree in International Finance and Marketing, and was crowned Miss Asian American – Florida.

When she isn't at the news studio, Monreal enjoys yoga, salsa dancing and spending time with her husband traveling, watching movies and playing golf. You might also find Monreal singing at a Fort Myers Miracle baseball game. She had the honor of performing the national anthem at two home games during the team's 2018 championship season.
