Art Changes Everything: Trinidad Artist, Halcian Pierre Uses Her Creative Art Work to Make a DifferenceBy: Halcian Pierre While Pierre is paying it forward, opportunity has come right back to her to make a difference in her own life. Recently, she has been given the opportunity to create a painting for a golf tournament sponsored by Avenue Capital Group—a prominent Hedge Fund investment firm. The purpose of the tournament is to raise funds for Soroka Medical Center in Israel. In addition, her painting will be converted into a poster that will be sold during the golf tournament. The original painting will be auctioned off on Charity Buzz, in New York, to benefit American Friends of Soroka. Pierre's paintings are popularly known for its strong imaginative aesthetic appeal. One of her famous paintings is entitled: Rub a Dub Dub, 3 Men in the Flood About the Artist Halcian Pierre is a Caribbean neo-pop artist with a unique artistic style. She fine-tuned her painting skills while attending UWI's Extramur In the 1980s and early 1990s, she stepped on board to a steady creative path. Then she took a hiatus from art after experiencing a series of disappointments and setbacks. In 2013, she made a serious comeback as a full-fledged neo-pop artist, which paved the way for opportunities to share her artwork. Recently, she launched an art exhibit entitled Macafouchette, located in Port of Spain. One of her paintings on display consisted of her 10x14 painting 'Rub a Dub Dub, 3 Men in the Flood'. Her inspiration for this painting came from an unlikely place. She stumbled upon a photo online of three men "bussin' a lime" on a board floating in the flood waters, while enjoying rum and a bowl with ice. She was so amused how the men turned a negative situation into something positive, she decided to ask the person who posted the photo permission to use the photo as inspiration. Moments like these make art fun and entertaining for her. Pierre is looking forward to the future and wherever her art journey takes her. Photos: https://www.prlog.org/ https://www.prlog.org/ End
