BOSTON - Nov. 16, 2018 - PRLog -- This past Saturday on November 10th, members of the community gathered in support of an effort to #Changethename of Faneuil Hall in Boston. Not as an act to erase the past as much as to set things right for the future. The primary act is the raise public awareness to the fact that Peter Faneuil, the builder of Faneuil Hall was a Boston slave trader who financed the building of the hall that bears his name with funds the from the sale of an African male child. The action is being spearheaded by the New Democracy Coalition.

If the proposal is reviewed and accepted the new name of the hall would be Attucks Hall named for Crispus Attucks, a sailor killed during the Boston Massacre who was of Wampanoag and African ancestry. In addition to the name change would be the installation of a plaque that would detail the origins of the hall and it's founder.

Among the presenters was Grammy nominee, The ZYG 808 who performed "Insanity" for the enthusiastic crowd of supporters ad passers-by. "Insanity" -which appears on his E.P. "At The Party" is one of his singles that addresses social inequities.

The ZYG 808 is a member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, and similar to Attucks' background, is also of Afro-Caribbean ancestry. A Hip-Hop Jazz artist, The ZYG 808 refers to his unique style of rapping and playing the drums at the same time as "Rappercussion" a term coined by elder rapping djembe player, Jali-D. "808" is a reference to the classic TR-808 drum machine used across the decades in hip-hop.

The ZYG 808 will be performing with The GroovaLottos on December 1st at Electric Haze in Worcester, MA and on the 8th at the Dedham Square Coffeehouse in Dedham, MA. He is currently working on his debut album "The Intro".
