"The Best Words: Posts of Mad Comedians was born from the shared disgust I and my fellow comedians have for the current administration's callousness and cruelty, which only serve to destroy our spirit and gut our democracy," Siskind said. "Their heartless policy of ripping children from their parents' arms was the last straw for me."
The posts shared in the book are vents of protest, angst, humor and fury at the despicable behavior of this administration. Contributors to the book include Carl Reiner, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Nealon, Jonathan Schmock, Dana Gould, Mark Brazill, Merrill Markoe, Leah Krinsky and others.
All net proceeds from this book will go towards reuniting and helping families who come to the United States seeking asylum.
Contributing to campaigns and attending marches wasn't enough for Siskind. She decided to harness the talent of her colleagues to make a difference. She didn't want these best words and art to fade away at the bottom of social media feeds so she turned the best of them into a dynamic and artistic book that mirrors America today.
Siskind, dubbed "a surgeon of the funny bone" by The New York Post, started her stand-up career in New York and moved on to Los Angeles, where she appeared on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson and Jay Leno, HBO, Showtime and more. She has headlined clubs, colleges and theaters throughout the United States, England and South Africa. Siskind has been featured in People Magazine, Newsweek, Mademoiselle, The New York Times, The Sunday Times of London, The New York Times Sunday Magazine, among many others. Her comedic performances have not only been limited to stand-up. She played comedy roles on TV, including an unforgettable episode of "Baywatch" (where she was thankful to wear a wet suit, rather that the pre-requisite bikini.)
