Sustainability at the Forefront of Business in Dacorum

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, U.K. - Oct. 4, 2018 - PRLog -- On Thursday 27 September, the Hemel Hempstead Business Ambassadors met for the first meeting after the summer break for a number of enlightening and interesting presentations at the Epson (UK) headquarters in Apsley, Hemel Hempstead.

Sarah Barrett, Business and Community Engagement Manager, for HMP The Mount outlined the efforts made to rehabilitate prisoners prior to the end of their sentences, and the advantages and benefits of businesses employing ex-offenders.

Stuart Chalmers, HR Manager, and Leonie Toal, PR & Social Media Manager, both from Epson (UK) Ltd discussed the company's origins – from a humble watch manufacturer in Japan in 1942 - through to its present-day innovations in the fields of inkjet printers, visual and wearable technologies and robotics.

Epson must be congratulated on its extensive CSR (corporate social responsibility) programme which originated primarily from environmental factors but soon expanded to incorporate the UN sustainable development goals - focusing not only on the external factors of social responsibility but also on the wellbeing of its staff.

Stuart Chalmers, commented, "Our CSR programme is designed to support the employees working within the business as well as charities and the circular economy. It acts as a differentiator, attracting employees as much as it does new business."

Epson now operates in 94 countries worldwide and has housed its UK headquarters in Hemel Hempstead for over 30 years, moving from Maylands to its current premises on Westside in Apsley in 2008.

The next meeting of the Hemel Hempstead Business Ambassadors will take place on Thursday 15 November at West Herts College with an update from James Doe, Assistant Director of Planning and Regeneration at Dacorum Borough Council.
