Module launches on Startengine

The launch offers an investment in long life, modular consumer technology products to people around the world via Startengine's crowdfunding platform.

LOS ANGELES - Sept. 26, 2018 - PRLog -- Module has launched an international investment crowdfunding campaign via Startengine. This is the first opportunity for a global audience to invest in Module, a social enterprise targeting the consumer technology space. Module's goal is to deliver environmentally conscious and responsible technology to consumers.

The team behind Module feels the way forward is to tell the Module story to the world. Then give the world an opportunity to be involved. That's why they decided an international investment crowdfunding offer was the perfect funding vehicle. They identified problems endemic in the technology sphere. They believe Module's approach is the best path toward a solution. Their research indicated a groundswell of people who believe in the need for a less damaging alternative in the consumer electronics space. They wanted to give the people with a desire to drive change the opportunity to be involved, to help advance The Module Project's vision.

The campaign, including explanatory video can be found here: http://www.startengine.com/module

Module intends to create the longest lasting technology products yet created. To achieve this, products will adhere to the company's three core principles.

Upgradeability, Repairability and Recyclability.

Upgradeability allows their customers to upgrade components of any Module product themselves. This keeps Module products up to date, without the need for a new device.

Repairability allows the owner of the product, or a service agent to quickly and easily repair any damage or fault with genuine, replacement components supplied by the company.

Modular design and meticulous material selection allow far greater lifespan, along with more efficient recyclability at end of service.

Module's first product will be Decibel, a mobile wireless speaker. However, they believe this ethical and logical approach is the future of product design. That virtually all technology products can, and should be manufactured in this modular manner.

"At Module we think about things differently," said Ketzal Sterling, Founder and CEO, Module. "The global e-waste problem is gigantic. Millions of tons of e-waste are piling up and we've found a way, using modularity to extend lifespan, to greatly reduce the rate of destruction while still delivering world class tech."

Our first product, Decibel illustrates our design philosophy perfectly. Decibel is not glued together or sealed shut, it's made with quality materials and using a simple Allen key can be upgraded, repaired, and customized. This can be done by the user – with no voided warranties or risk of damage.

Each major component, from the aluminum chassis to the lithium ion battery is replaceable, upgradeable, and will be supported by Module for years to come. Replaced components are returned to Module for recycling. Every major component will be available from Module.

Decibel will allow the owner to stay up-to-date with advances in software, electronics, wireless standards, and speaker technology. When technology advances, Decibel keeps up.

"Decibel is our first step toward solving a problem. Currently, large technology companies sell consumers replacement devices by promoting incremental updates" said Ketzal. "It shows complete disregard for consumers and the environment. We want to change the way products are designed, built, owned, used and disposed of, eventually at end of service. That particular event should be significantly later than the current expiration dates"
