STS Inks® Introduces Tast-Ink Kosher and Halal Edible Inks for Food and Packaging,Dye and Pigment

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Sept. 20, 2018 - PRLog -- Innovative Manufacturer Creates First Edible Black Pigment Ink Based on Bamboo

Boca Raton, FL (February xx, 2017) – STS Inks®, a global leader in ink technology, announces the introduction of Tast-Ink, a groundbreaking edible ink available in the full range of CMYK colors and compatible with all edible ink printers. Tast-Ink also features the first edible pigment inks with a black color, that are based on bamboo. The advantage of edible inks versus traditional dyes is that inks are resistant to moisture, which is what often causes dyes to bleed or fade and compromises durability.

Shahar Turgeman founded STS Inks in 1999 to meet the rapidly emerging challenges of myriad industries that use printing processes. In a field crowded with competition from lesser-quality products made overseas, Turgeman and his partner Adam Shafran have led STS Ink to the number one spot in the U.S. manufacture of high-quality ink.  STS Inks offers over 5,700 formulas and will develop any custom formulation.

Tast-Ink is currently in use for printing on food items, and edible inks for cakes and candies are in especially high demand. Edible inks, which are tasteless, are also used for printing information directly on pills, including medication names, manufacturers and expiration dates. Another important application is edible printer ink for food packaging.

Among new food and beverage products launched in the U.S. annually, approximately 40% are officially labeled Kosher. Tast-Ink is certified Kosher by the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, which visits the STS Inks manufacturing facility monthly to ensure all of the raw material they are using is Kosher.

What makes an ink product Kosher is its glycerin and coloring ingredients. The glycerin used in Tast-Ink is made from vegetable products that have never come in contact with such non-Kosher products as pork or shellfish. Among several other differences between the Kosher and non-Kosher glycerin used in edible inks, is that to be certified Kosher, STS Inks Cannot take advantage of the lower freight costs of having glycerin delivered in trailer tankers and then pumped into reusable totes that may have both contained non-Kosher products.  The Kosher glycerin used by STS Inks, must be specially packaged and delivered directly in brand new totes.

"A Kosher certificate applies to Halal, but not all Halal foods are considered Kosher," says Turgeman, who personally holds nine patents for American-made ink products. "We use the best quality raw vegetable materials and have dedicated mixers and drums for Tast-Ink, so it does not mix with any of our other products."

The popularity of decorated treats for party favors, gifts and company promotions is driving demand for edible inks, and Tast-Ink is already having an impact on the industry. Among its current clients are Chocolatography, a New York Company That uses wide format edible ink printers to customize over 60 different kinds of Jordanian chocolate products, and Vincent S.Varieté, a Canadian company that specializes in cake decorations, packaging, and pastry accessories.

"STS Inks formulates colors precisely to our specifications," says Steve Stortini, vice president of Vincent S. Varieté. "With Tast-Ink we don't have to worry about our colors running, and we can also confidently serve our Kosher and Halal customers."

Available in bulk inks, special bags and cartridges, STS Inks' edible inks are available for many different print heads, plataforma thermal head, Epson Kyocera Ricoh Panasonic dynamic and more. For more information, please visit
