By: LR Foundation The LR Foundation is devoted to encouraging community empowerment and youth development by spearheading special community projects, provide career education, training, hands-on skills workshops, and on-the-job shadowing programs. Our mission is to create a "pipeline to progress" for underrepresented and underserved youth who can flourish and learn that traditional paths aren't the only routes to success. This model will serve as a catalyst to change the way young people view their future. "The LR Foundation aims to expose young people to successful careers in non-traditional areas like culinary arts, plumbing, barbering, cosmetology, elevator mechanics, HVAC or construction trades," says Founder Leonard Redway. Established as a non-profit charter school in 2017, Crete Academy delivers an educational program to students TK-6th grade who are homeless and living in poverty, that will meet their physical, mental and emotional needs while developing strong character and critical thinking skills so that each child is prepared for college and beyond. Their educational model and wellness programs promote all students have the opportunity to succeed and thrive, despite their circumstances. "Our school was designed to serve the most vulnerable kids, which we consider to be those who are experiencing homelessness and those who are low income. We gladly welcome the LR Foundation to partner with us on multiple career programs and help support our short and long-term goals," Crete Academy Founder Hattie Mitchell says. The Career Day fair will allow students to interact with government agencies, culinary experts and financial institutions who serve this community including: LRS Plumbing, Grilled Fraiche food truck featuring Chef E. Dubble, LA Fire Dept, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Banc of California. Crete Academy's mission and purpose aligns well to the vision of the LR Foundation. It will continuously aid and assist in creating community awareness and exposure for Crete Academy's purpose to improve the lives and educational experience for homeless and impoverished children in Los Angeles For media inquiries, contact Lisa Humphrey, Premier Concepts email: lisa@premierconceptspr.com or call 310.293.4154.
