Tracey Hughes is a world-renowned hairstylist, speaker, and trendsetter whose striking images have graced covers worldwide. Interviewed by Winn Claybaugh, she discusses the transformative power of education and how women can truly support each other.
Known as one of the most awarded educators in the industry, Tracey has received Educator of the Year, Excellence in Education, Hairdresser of the Year, Creative Colorist of the Year, International Haircut of the Year, People's Choice Award, Australian Hair Industry's Hall of Fame, and Australian Masters awards. Through her vast media exposure, she became an industry ambassador, a corporate consultant, and a voice to the consumer.
Traceybegan her hairdressing career in the United Kingdom in 1986, as an apprentice at Christopher Boyton Salon. After backpacking in Australia, she moved there and established Mieka Hairdressing in 1997, growing the business into a prestigious and recognized brand and 10-time Salon of the Year winner.
Upon launching Tracey Hughes Education, Tracey became a pioneer in education resources with her personal approach and innovative vision. Headlining the most coveted global events, she has presented to over 500,000 people worldwide. Her leadership qualities shine through as hair director for notable designers at Fashion Weeks in Australia and NYC, and she has collaborated with renowned photographers and fashion designers to create unique looks for advertising campaigns and look books. Upon selling Mieka Hairdressing in 2014 and moving to the United States in 2016, she became a global education director and a vice president of global education. A role model to many, Tracey founded Leading Ladies, a star-studded panel of female icons and influencers who share a raw and honest look at the beauty industry.
