Kierra Sheard is the daughter of mega gospel artist Karen Clark Sheard and began singing at a young age. She released her debut album, "I Owe You," in 2004 and has been going non-stop with a total of six albums and one mixtape to her credit. Audiences have fallen in love with her sound and her hit singles "You Don't Know," "Why Me," and "God In Me" have earned Kierra Sheard a place among gospel's elite. Her newest single "Flaws" provides an introspective look at life's insecurities. Sheard is also no stranger to fashion, in 2015 she began her own clothing line called Eleven60, which will also be featured during The Weight Is Over. Throughout the night, other familiar faces will emerge when the region's top media personalities, entrepreneurs, executives, and socialites rock the runway in fashions by new and seasoned designers.
The Weight Is Over was created by native Memphian Ashley Dean-Parson, who launched her store, The Dean of Fashion Glamtique, in 2010 after having several encounters with designers who didn't cater to stylish full-figured women. Dean-Parson then decided to create the change she wanted to see and launched The Dean of Fashion, Memphis's first and only independently owned plus-size boutique. Dean-Parson prides herself in having relationships with her clients that allow her to give their shopping experience a personal touch. She also enjoys hosting events which provide a platform for her to broaden her reach and further connect with other curvy women.
"I encourage women to embrace their curves, not hide them. Our clothing makes bold statements and showcases that beauty doesn't have a size restriction. We emphasize that during The Weight Is Over by featuringgorgeous, curvy women who rule the runway," said Dean-Parson. "I am also very excited to have Kierra Sheard join us. I look forward to hearing her share her gift of song and showcasing her lovely fashions with everyone who attends," she adds.
The Weight Is Over is sponsored by Hyperbiotics, Big Fig, and KRM Enterprises. Ladies and men who love fashion are invited to experience this night of glamour and fun. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.theweightisoverfashion.com .
