New Podcast For Non-Committed Catholics Digs Deep Into Modern Issues

Dan & Eric Engel (two cradle Catholics who grew up in a traditional German household) have created a new podcast targeting non-traditional Catholics who aren't quite committed enough to consider themselves die-hard religious.
CINCINNATI - Sept. 3, 2018 - PRLog -- The Engel brothers (in the fraternal sense—not in the religious sense) are now producing a weekly podcast, A Podcast About Catholic Things, that digs deeper into modern problems and issues than most of the traditional forms of Catholic media.  "The idea," says Eric, "was to talk about the everyday world we live in, and how this everyday world ties into the Catholic faith.  This is for the working, blue-collar Catholic, who doesn't have the time or inclination to study Catholic history or become an expert on religion.  It's for the common man.  The one often forgotten by traditional Catholic media."

Several Catholic producers have been producing Catholic radio shows, podcasts, and other media for years, but the Engels noticed several trends in the system.  "The vast majority of it is created by priests, brothers, or people whose only job is to spread the faith," Dan says.  "There's nothing wrong with that, but someone like a skilled laborer, a professional, or even a pizza delivery guy kind of feels left out in the cold.  Telling people to pray for one hour a day or go to Mass every day is great, but most men and women can't manage that.  This podcast is made by and made for the rest of us.  The ones who live in the real world, and deal with real problems."

The podcast highlights some of the common clichés in Catholic life, and attempts to explain them in a way that modern, working class Americans can both understand and put to practical use.

Eric said he had wanted to do create a podcast for several years.  "I notice that there seem to be two kinds of people—those who listen to a steady stream of Catholic media, and people who don't listen to it at all.  This podcast is an attempt to bridge that gap."

"At the same time," Dan points out, "the podcast is NOT a beginner's guide.  We're not necessarily teaching the faith.  We're just talking about Catholic things… and how all things are more or less Catholic.  That's why we named it 'A Podcast About Catholic Things.'"

The podcast can be heard at their website, or searched for in iTunes, Google Play, and most other podcast listing services.
