LOS ANGELES - Aug. 22, 2018 - PRLog -- On July 12, Old School RuneScape players engaging in PVP encountered a bug that turned PVP loot into 2,147,483,647 units of OSRS gold. After acquiring that staggering amount of currency, many players hastily decided to buy high-level content, which can be bought using in-game currency.

To fix the glitch and ensure the in-game economy doesn't get damaged, Jagex rolled back the game to the point before the bug occurred. This is the first—and hopefully—the only time in the history of OSRS that the entire game world had to be rolled back.

"The intention of the team was to attempt to roll back players' saved games to the approximate time of the game update," Jagex said in a blog post.

Twitch Streamer Purpp managed to stream the bug as it happened. The said stream had over 120,000 viewers witnessing the mishap, as well as the wild reactions of other OSRS players.
