By: Scout Music The Design Lab helps emerging producers and writers create in-demand and hard-to-find styles and songs for music supervisor and producer clients. "Our clients are always looking for those songs that jump out. They are hard to find unless the budget is there to license a known hit, which can often be 100k and higher," says Scout Music founder Joey Prather. "The Design Lab helps our clients get the styles they need and get involved in the process while ushering in the next generation of talented producers and writers." The Design Lab is free. Participants submit beats, lyrics, hooks and complete songs, and Scout collaborates to help them create finished tracks for clients. "There is a lot of talent out there," says Prather. "But creating music for paying clients requires a unique skillset and mindset. Accessing the opportunity to learn the skills is tough."
