By: Mevents-est Launching The Supply Chain and Logistics Conference next October in Riyadh Under the patronage of His Excellency Minister of Transport Dr. Nabil bin Mohammed Al Amoudi, the Supply Chain and Logistics Conference will be held in the capital city of Riyadh from 6 - 7 Safar 1440H (15-16 October 2018) at the Four Seasons Hotel. It comes after the great success we had last year in the first edition of the conference, and considered as a golden opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas on the best practices at global level in order to improve the performance of our Supply Chain and to enhance the efficiency of our logistics activities to become one of the main logistics hubs in the world. Dr. Nabil also confirmed that the ministry already started last year the implementation of its strategic plan with full engagement from other related ministries and governmental organizations in order to achieve and build the required logistics infrastructure to position the Kingdom as an international hub at the global logistics platform which will link the three continents together especially that the volume of global trades that passes through the Arabian Gulf is estimated by 12%. He also highlighted the current pursuit of the Kingdom to increase the ranking of the logistics activities at the global logistics performance index and increasing the percentage of non-oil exports from 16% to at least 50% of non-oil GDP. The Advisor to the Minister of Transport, General Supervisor of Marketing and Communication Mr. Turki Abdullah Al-Toaimi, explained that; this annual event which is organized by the Ministry of Transport will present and highlight the most important recommendations of last year conference, in addition to a number of unique topics which will be offering the latest updates in the field of supply chain and logistics and will positively affect the level of coordination between local and international partners to enhance the development of the economic cycle in the kingdom and serve the business sectors that will promote economic diversification and attract further investments during the coming period. Mr. Al-Toaimi also explained that the conference is the unique and the only platform which is the largest gathering of decision makers of supply chains and logistics services where more than thirty national and international speakers will be participating over two days. They will be presenting a number of papers and researches based on world's best practices and their application to supply chain operations and high light the important of the logistics activities such as shipping, warehousing, transportation and the latest development of custom and ports operations procedures, as well as the integration with local and international transport companies to facilitate the major transport operations, and how it reflected on the economy. Will also focus on the digital part of this industry and what we are aiming in regards of digital transformation and e-commerce. The conference will also discuss the importance of promoting meaningful partnership and cooperation between the public and private sectors along with expectation and projects in the coming period with the opportunities of localization.
