By: NoMo Nausea This year's HSN American Dream Academy will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio from August 15-17. The first two days of the Academy include courses in categories like "Perfecting Your Pitch" and "Customer Discovery: Branding, Marketing, Research". This curriculum seeks to provide entrepreneurs with not only the knowledge they need to bring their product to life in our dynamic world, but also the professional networks and experience to further ensure their success. The final day is an Optional Pitch Day. Attendees can give a five minute pitch on their product to a panel of judges from HSN as well as successful companies like QVC and Zulily. In partnership with the Cintrifuse, HSN will host their annual Academy at Union Hall in Cincinnati. Union Hall, located steps from Washington Park, within a vibrant entrepreneurial city and Cintrifuse's commitment to advocacy for entrepreneurs makes this an ideal location for all attendees. Dr. Jaqueline Darna, medical inventor and CEO of NoMo Nausea shares her excitement for not only this opportunity to learn and travel, but to pitch her products with those who share her passion for entrepreneurship. While the American Dreams Academy is free, attendees must apply and be accepted to the Academy. After a thorough application and video submission, Jaqueline Darna received word she was selected to attend the HSN American Dream Academy and to pitch her product, NoMo Nausea Bands, on the third day of the conference. Dr. Jaqueline Darna is an anesthesiologist from Tampa, Florida who invented the NoMo Nausea Band after she spent time as the patient instead of the medical provider. When surgery left her sick for days and no traditional medicines provided relief, she tried the Eastern medical practices of acupressure and aromatherapy which worked incredibly. However, when her search for a similar product in stores turned up empty, she created her first product: the NoMo Nausea Band. Since then, NoMo Bands' uniqueness has garnered significant attention, and Dr. Darna has won numerous awards for her innovation. In 2016, she was given the PharmaHero award and nominated as Business Woman of the Year by the Tampa Chamber of Commerce. She also won The Big Pitch on Shark Tankand the inaugural 2018 PepsiCo Choice competition at the WBENC National Conference and Business Fair. Her products continue to proliferate and you can find them on the shelves of some of your favorite retailors like Bed Bath and Beyond, BuyBuy Baby, and CVS. Not only has Dr. Darna's impressive business skills and admirable accomplishments made a difference in the small business world, but her generosity and philanthropy has changed the lives of many. Every October, NoMo Nausea bands holds their annual campaign, "Buy a Band, Give a Band". During which, for every band purchase during the month of October, NoMo Nausea donates a band to a patient undergoing chemotherapy. Dr. Jaqueline Darna explains she wants to continue growing her business because "the more we grow, the more people we help. We are changing people's lives for the better, one band at a time." She hopes the HSN American Dream Academy will provide her with the tools, networks and opportunities she needs to allow her product to reach and thereby help even more people. With their shared interest in building entrepreneurial companies and improving the lives of others, the 2018 HSN American Dreams Academy will undoubtedly be a time of innovation and possibility. In the small business world, The American Dream is certainly alive and thriving.
